As we put a bow on the 7th Annual Operation: Christmas Wishes, I can’t help but pause and reflect on what this community made possible.
This year, with the partnership of Brighton and Pinckney High Schools, we expanded Operation Christmas Wishes to all four Ypsilanti Early Learning Centers for the first time ever—Ford, Beatty, Perry, and Puentes (the Spanish immersion program). Together, we supported 921 children, the largest reach in the history of this program.
Every child received hats, gloves, and a special wish-list gift, and because of the generosity of so many, we were also able to provide school-wide gifts and shelf-stable snacks for classrooms. Teachers shared their needs, and those dreams became reality—from playground sandboxes and toys to sensory room supplies and new sports balls that will continue to serve students long after the holidays.
One of the most meaningful parts of this year was watching 64 high school students step up to lead with compassion, generosity, and purpose. They didn’t just help collect gifts—they helped build connection and remind every child they matter.
What once felt like an ambitious (and slightly scary) goal became a powerful example of what happens when a community shows up. This year’s impact goes far beyond numbers—it lives in warm hands, joyful play, and classrooms filled with care.
Thank you to everyone who donated, organized, shopped, wrapped, volunteered, and believed in this mission. You helped us close another chapter of Operation Christmas Wishes with full hearts and lasting impact.
Here’s to seven years of kindness—and the many more to come. 💛
